about

My personal music response to end violence against woman.

Two years ago I was surprised to find the image of myself as it appears on my first album cover (created by Inaê Coutinho) circulating on the internet and appearing through other media. It was being used as the principal image in the campaign against violence against women.
Later the image became further corrupted by a red X superimposed on my mouth and the slogan "Don't be silent, say no to violence against women". This caused me a great deal of discomfort given the fact the vehicle of my work is my voice. This feeling of
uneasiness was shared by my collaborators on the original album production and in all of our opinions was and still remains an unethical violation of our copyright.
On the 25th November 2012, the International Day of No Violence Against Women, independently and on my own initiative I decided to express my solidarity with the campaign and inspired by the slogan of the movement I wrote a song and created a video to pay homage to all women.
This project was a committed collaboration involving a large and varied group of media professionals and friends to which I owe a heartfelt thank you. Please take note of all these individuals:
Betta Vidmar, Suzana Moraes, Inaê Coutinho, Nelson Barbosa Jr, Neusa Franzoi, Rosângela, Marília Zalaf e Prof. Waldyr; Bezinha, Nani, Tatiana Mehler, Fernando Horta, Bruno Bonaventure, Jesus Sanchez, Sound Design Studio; Zé Nigro, Sil, Dani, Ana, Ró, Beta, Maria Lucia, Pati, Nina Cavalcanti ,Gianni Puzzo and Marcelo Effori.
Finally I need to thank all the women of my family, my women friends, the women as mentioned in the song and many more that remain in my heart.
All of you, everyday please "DON'T BE SILENT"
